What day and how often?

Postby ChristineG » Sun Apr 19, 2009 1:02 pm

Hi everyone, I am sure this has been discussed in the past but I thought I'd start a fresh up-to-date discussion.

What day do you send your ezine and how often? What's behind those decisions?

I send mine on Thurs. The only real reason is that an ezine I have always admired that has a ton of subscribers goes out on Thurs. Not a very scientific reason really, but oh well. :)

I also send mine once a week because my biz is newer and I really want to provide a lot of value and keep my biz top of mind for people. Plus others in similar businesses as me who I admire seem to send theirs 1x/week.

I've always heard that Sunday night / Monday morning is supposed to be a good time to send because people are just sort of reading and catching up on things on those days and they are more likely to actually read your email then on Wednesday when they are in full on busy mode. I'm not sure how true that is though.

I'm curious to see if there is a "correct" answer to this. I have 3 different lists and I send auto-messages to them every 7-9 days and once in awhile there is a mass email that will go out and I never know "which" day is the best to send it on.

I also wonder if it matters what your subject matter is what day is best for you. I'm going to poke around the net and see if I can find some research from people that have tested this out.

Like lots of things in I.M. there's lots of rumours on this and not much data.

What I've heard is: don't send on Monday - most people have a 2 to 3 day backlog and your email will get lost.

Tuesday - Thursday optimum days. Notice product launches to check this.

How many launches on Sat/Sunday?

How may on Mon or Friday?

Anything you can find Loretta will be much appreciated!

:-)
