Press releases

Postby Mindy » Tue Oct 19, 2004 8:43 am

Hi everyone!

I read, with much interest, the thread here on press releases. Alice, your tutorial at http://www.internetbasedmoms.com/press-releases/ is phenomenal! Here is my question:

We have been selling Murano Glass artwork on eBay for over 5 years, and in January, we will be exhibiting our collection of Murano Glass for the first time at a wholesale gift show in Washington, DC. I would like to use a press release to get the word out. Does anyone have suggestions on where to start? How should I decide who I should send the release to? Should I stick to local media in the Washington, DC area, or go nationwide?

Also, I would like to send an invitation to retailers who could potentially be interested in our line. Any ideas on how to develop a contact list would be most welcome!

Mindy -

I LOVE murano glass!!

Alice's tutorial on press releases IS phenomenol! Mindy, I would seriously, follow her distribution list section. She even offers you media sites to contact that should get you where you need to be. Most of the press release distribution sites are inter-connected in some way, shape or form. They all "talk" to the big media giants. Some talk to more than others. I would submit to every single one that Alice mentions in her tutorial. You'll be fine doing all that I'm sure!

As for sending an invitation out to retailers, that's a great idea! I honestly would start a direct mail campaign to them right now though. You don't have much time! Even if you don't start now, one good, targeted invitation can have some great return.

To find them, try the yellow pages! Try these:
http://refdesk.whitepages.com/business

http://yellowpages.langenberg.com/

They both have category searches and you can build your snail-mail database from that.

I hope this helps you! Good luck at your show!

Shel

PS - Alice your tutorial ROCKS!
