Red Cross REFUSES Donations for Tsunami Victims!?!?!

eBay competitor Overstock Auctions will be contributing to victims of the Tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia via their charity auctions, however the Red Cross will not be a recipient of their efforts.

Overstock Auctions, which launched in September, put into place a system to allow its sellers to place charity auctions on the site to aid in tsunami relief efforts. It allowed sellers to choose from a several charities, one of which was the Red Cross.

But according to Overstock Auctions Vice President Holly MacDonald-Korth, the Red Cross would not accept donations from them because the Red Cross has an exclusive contract with eBay.

From what I understand they're in a state of he said she said, and both parties claim they still want to work together on it. Red Cross works with Mission Fish which has a contract with eBay. So, who knows what they'll all come up with. Who would've thought that donations would be refused. ??

That's sickening to think about. People are in serious need of help financially and the Red Cross is refusing donations because of some bureaucratic red tape? Now that's some serious BS if ever I did smell it...

I say, they should take the money and say someone else gave it to 'em

By the sounds of it, they may just come to a solution. I guess all we can do is see what happens. It is strange I think.
