So what's with eBay??

Postby WAHumor » Wed Oct 18, 2006 12:40 pm

Yesterday I heard a news report about a woman caught shoplifting. It was later discovered that she had $11,000 in shoplifted goodies at her house.

She was selling them on eBay.

A while back I saw a report on the morning news about a woman with a successful eBay business...which she financed with $50,000 she embezzled from her employer before retiring.

Is eBay the new "electronic fence"? (as in a place or person to whom you can sell stolen goods)

I also read about this person who bought PDA's from his employers account and sold them on ebay so they are similar to a pawn shop which often sell stolen goods. I don't beleive there is much ebay can do about that.

I think that means you need to be careful who you buy from.

Ebay is the world's premier rummage sale! Being careful who you shop with is not necessarily even safe, my son bought a computer chip for a car he was fixing up from a guy who had a large powerseller status and the chip turned out to be bootleg, even the sticker on it was just that a sticker with print from an ink jet printer, the fool was not even crafty enough to use a decent quality laser jet LOL.
