I'm going to disagree slightly and say definietely ask before linking, especially if you are going to "deep" link (i.e link to something other than their home page). Some sites don't like that. Plus, some site owners are particular about wholinks to them.

Thanks Rick. The info was very helpful. I like deep linking because otherwise my readers don't need me if they have to search the site themselves. I'm trying to save them time, not just give them more Internet addresses to look at.
