File Protection

Hi there,

Im looking to sell website and forum templates. However securing these files is a bit of an issue.

I have been looking at both aShop and eDelivery which allow you to also send a serial number with each purchased product. This is great as I could password protect a zip file and provide the password to each customer on purchase. The carts also allow to provide unique passwords from a txt file. So I could say password protect a zip file with 15 passwords and then distribute each password to a unique customer per purchase.

Do you know of any compression programs that allow for protecting a file with multiple passwords. I know only of Installshield and Wise Installation System's which are a little expensive. Something I may invest in if the business takes off.


Also this isnt obviously the most secure way to protect the files, the best way would be to have a server-side script that creates a uniquely protected file per purchase, which ultimately means theres only 1 unlock code per downloaded file. However I do not know of any products that offer this functionality and I can imagine it being quite CPU heavy, not something my host would be too pleased about im sure.

Can anyone please make a suggestion of any products that would offer unique protected files per customer. I would obviously like to have it automated, either having multiple passwords per file or locked files generated server-side. Mainly as automation means the customer gets the file straight after purchase instead of awaiting me to protect the file, upload it and then send them a download link.
