Theft in my Store!!!

Postby LarryJones » Thu Feb 05, 2009 5:35 am

Hi everyone, I run a departmental store downtown. I have a staff of about 20-25 people, the workforce is not large. But, I have a big store and from a few days I have got the feeling that there are thefts in my shop. I have got the accounts cleared up and the items checked and there is a clear proof of some theft. I am here to get some real good ideas on how could I prevent all of this without having an adverse effect on my shop environment?
Please do help me.

Hello, this is one of the most common things today. There are a lot of instances of such kind so there are ways to stop such thefts. You should consider having security measures such as security cameras, theft insurance and other things.

I agree with Alvin, you should invest in security camers if you already haven't done so. However, there are many different measures that you can take.

I don't know if you have thought of this or not but maybe you should talk to a local security consultant. Without knowing the layout of your store, employees, type of products it's hard to give concise recommendations here.

Yep you guessed, I used to be a security specialist a while back but got into something else along the way.

It is a big problem today and the only real way to stop it is with the cameras, however do you carry out spot checks on the staff too?

Unfortunately, this is a huge problem in retail today. Between the economy being on a downslide and other things going on, it happens pretty often. What security measures do you already have in place?

I think surveillance cameras in and around the store or maybe to hire a security guard. Not real sure but I bet other stores in your area might have some suggestions too.
