When I add images to my blog, I usually use the (align="left") in the img src to make the text wrap around the image.

I have a Wordpress blog that the text ends up right next to the image. There is no spacing. I am not sure if this is a Wordpress thing or the theme or maybe neither.

It seems like it has at least one space on my Blogger blog.

I usually just use the hspace="8" and vspace="8" in my image codes to give a bit of space around my photos. You can increase or decrease the 8 as needed to adjust your space.
