Getting Started Blog question

Hi everyone,

Got what seems to be a simple question, i just don't have the answer.

I am wanting to pursue a blog and attempt to monetize it to bring in some extra income. I know how to start and setup my blog, find a theme and post articles.

My question is when just beginning a blog, should it be monetized right away or do you need to build up readership and get your readers to trust and believe in you. When should the monetizing come in?

Hi Pam,
I would say that if you have an affiliate program or even a product of your own it is fine to have it on the site from the start. I would think that it would have a direct correlation to what you write about to get more targeted traffic.

I will say that if I go to a brand new blog and it has 1 post and a whole side bar of adverts, I do not bookmark it. In fact I have a hard time bookmarking any blog that has a bunch of advert widgets.

You might go watch the videos at the Thirty Day Challenge. They have you find your niche using keyword research, get an affiliate, and set up a blog. It is not designed to make you a million $ but, rather get you started on the process of picking a good niche, if you do not have one. Lynn has a post about it on the forum.

This is just my opinion. I'm just not sure how you were thinking of monetizing. So, I am just talking in general here.
