Checking background information on a company / product

Hi there,

Does anyone know of any good sites to check up on a websites company history (such as when they started, who owns the company, where they are located etc), apart from the BBB?

I tried asking this in the Warrior forum but no-one wanted to know.

Thank you for the quick response. I had a look at the site you suggested but it just shows when the domain was registered and not the business. The business name, owner, and address are usually made private as well.

Ideally, what I'm after is a trusted organisation (like the BBB) that displays company information of the website / vendor provided they are a registered company.

By law in this country, all companies have to be registered with their contact information which you can easily check. It also promotes trust knowing that you aren't dealing with a fly-by-night venture.

Maybe a better question would be; if you were looking around the internet for a good IM product and you came across tons of sites all offering "garauntees" and claiming to be the best and fully legit, how would you determine who you could trust?

Would it just be a case of go with your gut? Do a search on them? See what reviews are out there? Or are there other things you can do to put your mind at ease?

Forums - without a doubt. You'll get some affiliates that respond, but for the most part you'll get straight forward answers & reviews from others who have dealt with that company or person, or purchased/used that product.
