Yes, write for your target audience

Postby KimDushinski » Mon May 12, 2008 3:39 pm

Richard:

I am new to this forum, but not new to Internet and to marketing.

Yes, you should write your articles so that your target audience will be interested in them. The idea is that because your article is something they would want to read (and do read) then when they get to the end of the article and read your by line/bio, they will click through to your site.

Also, this gives you incoming links to your site from a page that is on topic to your site. This is better for SEO.

Different uses for articles

Postby KimDushinski » Tue May 13, 2008 6:46 am

Richard:

It seems you are not talking about the kind of article that is usually described in writing articles to get traffic to your website information.

It sounds like what you have is more like something that would be a free mini e-book. Meaning you would use it as the incentive for someone to sign up on your email list.

Or maybe since it is funny it could be given away and you ould ask people to pass it along to their friends. If you take this option, you have to have a strong call to action in it (what you want people to DO as a result of reading it.)

I hope that helps.

Welcome to SSWT, Kim :D

Great advice here already... I would publish the 5000 word piece as a free report and use it as a viral marketing tool, assuming it is on the same topic as your website. And as Kim said, make sure you include a call-to-action.
