Newsletter problem

Postby Richard Norman » Thu Mar 27, 2008 6:22 am

I am trying to market my website.

I sell to a niche market and have been gathering a list of people who said they would like to receive a newsletter every month or so.

For the first few months I had something valid to say in the newsletter, but right now I am stuck for anything new to say.

The subject of my website is Gilding and I feel I have said all their is to say about the subject.

How do other people cope with this problem please?

Richard

go out to the article directories and find articles about your subject. make sure you have permission to republish the articles.

create a tutorial about some part of your subject.

break it up into several parts, make that one part of your newletter each month.

find products that relate to your market, sign up as an affilitate for those companies.
do a review of a new product each month.

and by all means, simply ask your readers what they would like to see in their newsletter.
you can create a poll or questionaire on your website.
link to it in your newsletter for them to answer those questions.

maybe even have some type of contest for it, etc.

Hi Richard,

Robert has some great ideas! I'll just add that you can also mention related websites, make personal recommendations such as great discussions you found on forums in your niche, etc. Definitely take Roberts advice and open the lines of communication by asking your readers what their biggest questions are or what they would like to learn about the most.

For those of us who are crafty minded why not do a newsletter dedicated one month to how to take old furniture and items and transform them into masterpieces that can be sold at craft shows?

Maybe throw in an article on how to look for and spot the perfect pieces of furniture etc at a yard sale or estate auction that would could be transformed with gilding?

Have you contacted the people you buy your supplies from?

Maybe they already have articles they would allow you to share. Maybe a marketing person at one of your suppliers would enjoy writing a guest article, or column.

Do you know any other artists in your area who do gilding, and maybe would enjoy writing an article for you?

Why not teach someone in your local area about gilding, a child, or a senior citizen, and then write about the experience, maybe including a short interview or comments from them?

Search Ebay for gilded items that are unique and interesting, and write about them, and make sure you include your affiliate link for Ebay, so you make money from the referrals.

Are their online discussion groups about gilding? Start visiting them and seeing what the HOT topics are, and write about them.

Here are a few more ideas:

1. Find some experts on the topic and interview them.

2. Compile a list of top resources on the topic.

3. Review products and tools that your readers may be interested in.

4. Search in places like Yahoo Answers, Google Groups and related forums to see what kinds of problems people want to solve in this niche.
