Why not submit to directories with low pg ranks - is there no advantage to by getting links from low rank directories

I don't think back links from low PR directions can actually hurt you unless they are link farms. But I do not know if they really help you either. Authority sites are definitely the ones you want back links from though, if possible.

There is no harm at all in submitting to any directory. You need a variety of links coming to your site - some from other webmasters, some from article directories some from blogs and so on.

It is not just the number of links to your site that matters-it is the quality. Remember that for google a link is like a vote. If all the votes to your site look the same, it will look odd.

Supposing all the links were from directories and none from ordinary websites, it may well look to google that you are trying to game the system.

But if you have a mix of links growing organically with time from forum posts, blogs, websites and a few directories and if the anchor text is varied then that looks natural and does not trigger warnings for the search engines

You should submit to them for 2 reasons:

1) Relevancy to your website
2) MSN & Yahoo still consider the number of inbound links in
their ranking algorithms.
