Affiliate Marketing Domain Names

Postby Rick » Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:40 pm

I'm not gonna lie, I have purchased products on-line before and now I'm on a few gurus mailing list. So when they send me an email promoting the latest and greatest products from clickbank it has the web address in there something like this:

ww.rickrecommends.com/ppc2.0

or

ww.rickrecommends/goldenbonus

etc.

So do they get a click bank id then set up another page on their website that redirects and masks the affiliate id? How does that work with say hostgator? Did I explain myself? Anyone? Bueller?

This is kind of an old post and hopefully you have found the answer by now, but if not, or if others are curious, I figured i'd post. Yes, you are right in your assumption, that is just an easy way to redirect with his affiliate link while not making it completely obvious. He is most likely just using a very basic php readirect which is super easy to do. You just put your link in the index.php in that specific directory and it automatically sends them to the affiliate page (or whatever you are linking to). But with the domain and directory naming it doesn't looks like it even for those that are paying attention.

I'm not sure about the linking rules here yet (guess I should read the rules first :oops: lol) but here is a very basic description on about that I assume is ok to link to: http://php.about.com/od/learnphp/ht/phpredirection.htm

You can search more about "php redirect" to get more info though if needed.

or even more straightforward, use the meta refresh tag:

<META HTTP-EQUIV = 'Refresh' Content = '0; URL =www.domaintoredirectto.com'>

You should start a new threat, you are more likely to get a meaningful response

Why not post in the introductions section?

because he is just posting to spam his link ;). If it was even really a person and not just a bot. I doubt he will ever even come back to see your response.
