Emailing affiliate links- help!

I have 3K subscribers, and have only been sending emails consisting of friendly tips and advice. Time for a little "Ka-Ching!" don't ya think?

Anyway, I signed up for a few programs with Linkshare.

I generated the text links for use in emails and articles on my site.

This is what it looks like:

Am I really supposed to stick ALL THAT into an email or article?

Linkshare warns: Code for Link (Textual) - This code must be placed on your site exactly as it appears.

By the way, my newsletter is plain text, not html.

Can you just use a redirect to your affiliate link?

Not sure how you would redirect that code, but here's my tip.

Create a page just for the ad.
Link to it in your newsletter.
Use a tracker so you know how many clicks you get.

In order for this to work your newsletter will need to be an html file.

You probably already know this but the affilicte code that was sent to you will be hidden in the anchor tag and not seen by your customers.

for example this is how you would code it

<a href="ALL THAT STUFF LINKSHARE SENT">PHRASE FOR ACTION HERE</a>

this is what the user would see:
PHRASE FOR ACTION


One item to research is if you can embedded links in a regular text email. Not sure how this is done.

Your customer's email program will need to have the ability render an HTML link in order for you to receive credit. The same rule applies if you are linking back to your website. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions.

In all of that code, this is the actual affiliate link:

http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/cli ... =3&subid=0

The rest (the image code) is just to track impressions. That obviously wont work in a plain text email.

I would also recommend powerlinkgenerator.com or gotrythis.com because they provide excellent managment, and tracking.

The link will come out looking like:
www.YourLink.com/recommends/PenguinEbook
