Did you know that the money is in the list? You have probably heard that once or twice in your career as an online marketer. Well it is true. The question begs – “How do you build a responsive list?” That is a good question. It is actually pretty easy, if you know what you are doing.

The very first thing you need to do is to have a good squeeze page. Your squeeze page must offer a free report, free download of an mp3 file or video. The giveaway has to be something of value. The key is in the giveaway! It must grab the potential prospect’s interest. You should have a good video of yourself describing your giveaway above the fold. Remember, to tell your subscribers in your video that your giveaway will be in the form of a download that they will receive in an email. Hence, they need to make sure and give you a good email. This will increase your odds of getting an email box that is never opened. You should have your opt- in box on the right hand side of your squeeze page, above the fold. Now on to actual listbuilding.

Promote your squeeze page. Here are 7 killer strategies to do this!

1.Forums are a great way to promote your squeeze page. You can not directly promote your squeeze page in a forum. However, if you put a link in your signature, you can effectively generate tons of prospects every day. Keep your signature simple and believable. When you are posting to forums make sure that you give good content and input so that your posts are read. Post often and people will begin to see you as somewhat of an expert. They will begin to pay attention to when you post.

2.MySpace is a good tool to use, if used correctly. In order to promote your squeeze page on MySpace you must use
relationship marketing. It is all about selling yourself. You can start by stating that you are the author of such and such a website under your about me section. Then tell the story of your life and how it brought you to where you are. Next, in the people you would like to meet section – discuss this candidly with your audience. After this, you should put a small tantalizing blurb which sends people to your squeeze page. Here is the key. Create at least 4 profile and request several friends a day. When you do this, you will have a large funnel of potential prospects reading through your profile and going to your squeeze page.

3.Youtube is an excellent source of generating leads. Create a fun, upbeat video about what you are offering. Before you publish it, include your website. Then, in the description put your website. Here is the key, when you first upload it, don’t put any keywords. You will get more traffic. Wait 3 days, and then add your keywords. Trust me, this works like a charm.

4.Joint Ventures are great if you have the time to contact other list owners. This can build your list in warp speed. There are two important items to keep in mind. First, write a short witty description of your offer (your giveaway). Second, have the author of the list; endorse you and your free giveaway. This gives you credibility.

5.Viral sites are actually a great tool to build lists. Here is why, when you promote viral sites, you have the ability to put your own ad on the site. The more viral your viral site becomes the more your ad gets out there. This means more traffic to your squeeze page. This is one of the easiest and fastest ways to build your list.

6.Articles are important because they promote you as an expert in your field. There is a key to doing this. Create a blog and post your article on it. Wait a day and then post to social bookmarking sites. This way Google can spider your article and it can ensure that it is original content. Wait 2 days and then submit to the major article directories. If you follow this simple recipe, your articles will stand a much better chance of being ranked higher in the organic searches of Google. If you are ranked high on Google, chances are people will think that you know what you are talking about. After all you are ranked rather high aren’t you?

7.Squidoo Lens is a fun and creative way to generate leads. When you name your Squidoo lens make sure that the name is exactly what you are promoting. For example, if you are doing a Squidoo lens on foreclosures, your lens name should start with Foreclosure. In the fun and complex world of SEO, this will get ranked quicker and higher in the search engine index. If it is already taken add a 123 after it. Make sure and have a blurb on your Squidoo lens that leads to your squeeze page. Remember your Squidoo lens should be about relationship marketing. You should be selling yourself as an expert in whatever you are promoting. Tell your story; it helps build a relationship with your prospects. They will be more inclined to give you a good email when they opt in to your offer.

Now make sure that when your prospect opts in, you take them to your own piece of virtual real estate; your thank you page. Your thank you page should be an offer to an affiliate product or your own product. So now you have a good prospect and a possible sale. See listbuilding can be done!
