How to Increase Your Product Sales with Website Content

Any internet marketer will tell you that the way to sell your product online, whether it is your own product or an affiliate product, is to get traffic to your website. For obvious reasons, if no one visits your site to see your product, you won’t sell anything.

The question then becomes: how do I get traffic to my site? The first and most important way to get more traffic is to put relevant and useful content on your website.

State the benefits of your product very clearly in the headlines. If your product solves a particular problem, state that in a headline as well. Some people just scan website copy so be sure your headlines are bold and easy to read.

Many people make a copywriting mistake by only saying the product name in the headline, such as, “This is an Amazing Cheese Grater” rather than what problem it can solve, such as, “Never Cut Your Fingers Again with this Amazing Cheese Grater!” For those customers who scan, you want to get your point across as quickly as possible.

Product descriptions and sales copy are obvious bits of content that can only enhance your product photos. This is the place to further illustrate the features of your product and describe how your product can help your visitor. Spell it out very clearly to people that your product is the best solution on the market.

You should have done some keyword research while planning your website, so use those keywords in your sales copy and headlines. Once the search engine spiders find you, you can start to rank higher in the search results for your chosen keywords. However, be aware that using too many keywords in sales copy can ruin the natural flow of the language and, in some cases, can get you in trouble with the almighty search engines.

Adding customer testimonials to your site can give you credibility and may just convince a buyer that what you have can help them. Those buyers who are intimidated by sales copy may be swayed to buy after hearing good reviews from real people. You can even add a longer case study or customer story to fully illustrate how your product helped solve a problem.

If you were interviewed about your product, make a transcript of the interview available on your website. You can also make the audio available, too, but search engines cannot hear audio, so make sure the written copy is also added to your site.

Blogging can help an online business owner build a relationship with future clients. Link your blog to your website and add posts multiple times a week so the search engine robots will review your site on a regular basis. These posts can be about a new way to use your product, improvements to your product, or changes or improvements to your business.

Once your customers get to know you, add some personal touches to your post. Make recommendations for other products or offer solutions to other problems your target market might face. When you blog, you are showing yourself as a real person rather than just a business person and people generally buy products from people they like and feel they know.

All of these ways to add content can be used with each other or you can implement one at a time. Many experts agree that sales won’t occur until your customer has been exposed to your name at least seven times, so your copy must be convincing, it must show their problem resolved, and you must give them a call to action.

Quite simply, you need to tell them to order your product now!
