Improve current business or create new product/business

Hi,

My dilemma for the new year is to:

1. Improve my current business (web dev) by attracting more traffic, improving conversion rates, add new ebooks, reports

or

2. Create new product/business unrelated to my current one. ie online store, new blog/ebook

What are your thoughts?

If it were me I would focus on number one. Number two could cause you to loose focus and the result would probably be that neither one would be done effeciently.

Thanks for the feedback...any ideas on what products to develop that would supplement my web design business?

I was inspired by Lynn's comment "developing enough passive income that equals your service based income"

Products created so far:
ebook on web site promotion
ebook on article marketing

This isn't really passive, but maybe you could do some predesigned websites for purchase, maybe even load them with some articles, google ads etc.

Maybe do some research to find some hot niches so that you know what kinds of sites to premake.

It is something you could do on your own schedule and add to your selection.

Or how about somehow creating a build it yourself software where people could somehow customize their site by using graphics etc that you provide, make it drag and drop and easy to set up, maybe a place for them to input their adword account info to auto load ads etc etc?

I don't know how you could do this, maybe some help by a techie to develop the software would be necessary.

Maybe create a complete package that would include your ebooks too so that they would have a site that they basically put together themselves using the software you provide and also the info to build traffic etc.

Just throwing a few things out that you may be able to run with :0)
