Good topic, Mitchel!
Personally, I am not one to be first in line for the 'latest and greatest'. I have a stable passive income from affiliate marketing, and tend to stick with what works. That said, I do review new products and strategies and put some consideration into using them - and if they 'pass the test' I try them out.
There is a balance there for super affiliates, because in order to be successful you have to constant test and tweak, test and tweak. But you could very easily 'shoot yourself in the foot' by constantly making rash changes and trying new products or strategies... if you arent fully testing each change or each method and split testing the variables.
Affiliate programs should be chosen first and foremost for your target market. For their appeal to the visitor, not their appeal to you (as the marketer). Products or methods/strategies for marketing should also be used in a way that benefits the visitor - as this is what ultimately benefits you, as the site owner.
