Building Quality Backlinks

Postby nenzee » Fri May 15, 2009 12:57 am

I know the threads "How do you build backlinks" have been done over and over on numerous forums but most of them are old so I thought I'd ask around here. Understandably there are hundreds of ways, each with people preaching their method is the best.

Personally for me I've tried the following methods (in no particular order) to build backlinks...

Links from other sites in the same niche - most effective in my opinion.
Article distribution to hundreds of sites - effective but what about the duplicate content, will the links get ignored?
Directory submissions - i've always done this but never seen any real benefit.
Social bookmarking - recently tried this and one of two of the bookmarks came up in the SERPS so I guess it helps. If you get something on the front page it definately generates a lot of visitors and backlinks.
Blog commenting - fairly new, never really tried as it is not widely accepted.
Blog reviews - I once spent $100 on reviews from min pr3 siteswith no real benefit.
Text Link Ads - tried this too, spending $100 with no real benefit.
Forum signatures - have over 2,000 posts on some forums, dunno if this helps

That's all I can think of now, what about you?

Building back links is something I really want to learn more about. I do a lot of blog commenting, do reviews on my blog and I do use links in my forum signatures BUT I think it's best to add more to a signature than just a link with a keyword phrase. Forums are communities where we get to know other members and I'm more likely to click on a forum signature IF they have more meat to them or at least a name.

I do know that I should be writing and distributing articles to directories.

Great topic to discuss.

Bookmarking is a great backlink and traffic generator. It can give your site high PR for quality high PR backlinks it can give and also it can rank on its own.

Digg, stumbleupon, mister-wong, furl, etc. are doing good as always.

Article submission is also a great one to maintain as it can rank well for themselves and will result to good backlinks. Don't worry about duplicate becasue they can still rank well if you have tightly researched keywords.

I see three identical articles in different article directories ranked on the first page of Google.

I think links from other sites and article distribution are the most widely used effective methods. I don't know nor have I ever heard of anyone being tagged for duplicate content using article marketing, articles still rank and pull traffic.

I agree that social networking and bookmarking can be effective as well, but I think it needs to be combined with other link building methods to be completely effective.

You said you were doing blog commenting and it was not widely accepted? I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you comment with relevant comments and use a name instead of keywords your comments should be fine.
