Anyone heard about what is acceptable when optimizing pages

Has anyone heard about...how should one optimize all pages of ones site.


Once you have researched your keywords and established which ones you will target and which ones are your primary ones, should one sprinkle other keyword phrases being searched into your content.

My concern is this, will the search engine get confused when they see other keyword phrases they know are being searched sprinkled into the page, since now they may not be able to tell which of the phrases are the primary keywords for that one page

What can I do to prevent the search engines from getting confused and watering down my SEO efforts because I may be sprinkling to many other keyword phrases into my content

, can you provide a an example of optimizing one page for primary keyword phrases and then sprinkling some other phrases throughout the page
