SEO is a Waste of Time & Money! ;-)

So says one "web expert" who has issued a press release that says, basically, Web 2.0 is making SEO unnecessary.

As long as Google will be used on the Internet, there is a reason to optimize your web site for him (SEO that is).

Web sites will be read by real people; some of the "SEO" rules aim to make web sites more useable by human beings.

I heard about one lady who buys a product from a site which has a worldpay checkout system - she is blind, and apparently worldpay lets her manage the whole transaction by speech. She is talked through the transaction by their software.

It's one thing trying to manipulate search engine results; quite another to make a site good for your visitors. We can't afford to ignore this area of site design.

I haven't read the articles, but if SEO is REALLY a waste of time, I guess I must have been wasting my time when I got two $30.49 commissions in the last 4 days, which were derived from SEO traffic that I didn't pay a dime for!

Despite the proliferation, some would say oversaturation of Web 2.0 sites out there, there will always be a need for SEO as the potential for targeted traffic and sales (if

done right) would be too good to pass up. It would be like going to a restaurant, having your meal and then leaving a $2000+ tip on the table by mistake.
